Set It Off frontman Cody Carson has opened up about the creation of their biggest hit ‘Wolf In Sheep’s Clothing’ and the subsequent 2024 ‘Reborn’ version.

Taken from the 2014 album ‘Duality’, the track has since been certified Platinum in the US and the band re-recorded the song last year in honour of its tenth anniversary. We caught up with Cody on the his recent trip to London and he told us that releasing this heavier version of the song made perfect sense as it was more in line with how they had originally intended for it to sound.
He said “What people don’t know about ‘Wolf’ is the demo was in drop A, it had a scream, it was heavy. So the original concept for ‘Duality’, and why it was called that, was that we had this idea for an album art of the drama masks, tragedy and comedy, but it was anger and happiness. 50% of the album would be poppy, like pop songs, and 50% would be really heavy, but it just didn’t make sense. It was too chaotic. So that heavy song, we had to adjust it. So we were with our friend (producer) Brandon Paddock, and we made it into this jazzy version. So this was our chance to go back and give it its chance to be what it originally was in this world where we’re now a heavier band.”
Cody also reflected on the surprise success of the original track, saying “That song was not a single. It didn’t have a music video. It didn’t have anything. The fans told us it’s a single, which is so cool…I check YouTube and there was a video with over 2 million views that was like a nightcore version. They sped it up and put it to animation. And then there was all these different videos that they just put on animations and this subculture on YouTube made it massive.”
