A little bit over two months after dropping his sixth studio album, I Got Issues, YG has shared a brand new single. On “Miss My Dawgs,” the Compton rapper reminisces on friendships which have come and gone through the years.
“Man, I miss my dawgs / Those I decide up for, ain’t by no means missed a name / Plottin’ to get it poppin’, we had plans to get all of it / Wishin’ you was right here, dawg, to trip these overseas vehicles,” raps YG on the track’s refrain.
Within the first verse, he recollects the loyalty of his associates and elaborates on what makes somebody real, saying, “My dawg is one who trip for me / They wouldn’t attempt me for a physique, they gon’ slide totally free / Wherever I be steppin’, they on facet of me / Bros over hoes, constructed off loyalty and honesty.”
Lil Wayne joins in with a verse, which is seemingly unrelated to his personal track, “I Miss My Dawgs” from his 2004 album, Tha Carter. On his verse, he makes a number of dog-related analogies to his personal loyal pack.
