Tems‘ Oscars costume was one of the talked-about outfits this previous weekend. In the course of the Academy Awards, the Nigerian singer-songwriter, who was nominated for Finest Authentic Tune for her work on Rihanna’s “Lift Me Up” from Black Panther: Wakanda Forever, wore a white dress with a large puffy portion that wrapped round her head.
In footage from the ceremony, a few of the individuals seated behind Tems are seen struggling to see the stage, as Tems’ headpiece seems to impede the view. It seems Tems has caught wind of the feedback.
Yesterday (March 13), she took to Instagram sharing footage from the night time, cheekily captioned, “Uh Ohh!”
She took to Twitter to double down on the truth that she is unbothered, sharing one other set of pictures captioned “Oops” with a blushing emoji.
Over the course of the night time, the costume spurred blended reactions from viewers.
“If I used to be I sitting behind Tems, I’d be probably the most annoying asshole. As a result of WHY would you put on that and block individuals’s view???,” mentioned one Twitter consumer.

One other Twitter consumer referred to as the outfit “Very impolite,” including that “it exhibits her lack of self-worth.”
Very impolite and it exhibits her lack of self value.

Whereas some weren’t significantly thrilled concerning the outfit, a number of of Tems’ followers chimed in to defend the costume.
One fan mentioned “Think about ready your complete life to be on the Oscars and having the Honor of Tems presence.”

One other fan urged that the criticisms of her outfit could also be rooted in racism, because of an absence of backlash for outfits worn by related stars up to now.
“The backlash Tems is receiving from white individuals and Africans is simply borne [sic] out of racial prejudice. Nothing extra,” mentioned one other fan. “The place was that ‘impolite’ speak when Gaga wore an outfit that blocked these behind her? It’s our sister now, and they’re yapping, simply to cancel her.”
