Madonna took to her Instagram Tales on Monday (Feb. 27) to recollect her older brother Anthony Ciccone, who died over the weekend at age 66.
“Thanks for blowing my thoughts as a younger lady and introducing me to Charlie Parker, Miles Davis, Buddhism, Taoism, Charles Bukowski, Richard Brautigan, Jack Kerouac, Expansive Pondering, Exterior the Field,” the Queen of Pop wrote alongside a photograph of herself sitting at a desk together with her brother and their group of associates. “You planted many vital seeds.”

Madonna’s brother-in-law Joe Henry, a musician who’s married to the icon’s sister Melanie Ciccone, announced the news of Anthony’s passing by way of Instagram on Saturday (Feb. 25). “My brother-in-law, Anthony Gerard Ciccone, exited this earthly airplane final night,” Henry wrote alongside a photograph of his brother-in-law. “I’ve recognized him since I used to be 15, within the spring of our lives in Michigan so a few years now gone. As brother Dave Henry (who took this {photograph}) notes right here, Anthony was a fancy character; and god is aware of: we tangled in moments, as true brothers can.”
Henry continued, “However I beloved him, and understood him higher than I used to be typically keen to let on. However bother fades; and household stays — with fingers reached throughout the desk. Farewell, then, brother Anthony. I need to suppose the god your blessed mom (and mine) believed in has her there, ready to obtain you. Not less than for at this time, nobody shall dissuade me from this imaginative and prescient.”
