This morning (May 3), Kendrick Lamar dissed Drake with the second song in less than a week. Following Tuesday’s “euphoria,” Friday morning’s “6:16 in LA” arrived around the time-stamp. The title borrowed from Drake’s longstanding series, which he has used in the past during his battles and beefs with Joe Budden, Diddy, and others.

Kendrick Lamar Goes Back To Back With Another Drake Diss

Last month, when Drake released “Taylor Made Freestyle,” the Toronto superstar challenged his opponent, “Dot, I know you’re in that NY apartment, you strugglin’ right now, I know it / In the notepad doing lyrical gymnastics, my boy / You better have a motherf__kin’ quintuple entendre on that s__t / Some s__t I don’t even understand, like / That s__t better be crazy, we waitin’ on you.” At the time, Drake was seeking a response, and slamming Kendrick for a lack thereof while releasing his second. Drake later took down “Taylor Made Freestyle,” following threats of legal action from Tupac Shakur’s family and estate.

However, less than two weeks later, Drake seemingly got what he asked for—and then some.

Kendrick Lamar Disses Drake For 6 Straight Minutes

The title “6:16 in LA” appears to be so much more than a jab at a Drake titling convention. The “6:16” has at least five meanings—making it a quintuple entendre.

Kendrick Lamar’s Drake Diss Title Has 5 Different Meanings

1. Father’s Day 2024 Falls On June 16

On his first diss, “euphoria,” Kendrick Lamar attacked Drake for his abilities as a father. Kendrick, who is a father, admitted to focusing on the lives of his children. “Why would I call around tryna get dirt on n___as? / Y’all think all of my life is Rap? / That’s h_e s__t, I got a son to raise, but I can see you know nothin’ ’bout that,” he rapped. That adds to Pusha-T’s child-reveal in 2018, and subsequent claims that Drake is a dead-beat father to his son, Adonis.

2. June 16, 1994 Is The Day Of The Funerals For Nicole Brown Simpson and Ronald Goldman

Thirty years ago, June 16 was the day that Nicole Brown Simpson and Ronald Goldman were laid to rest. The pair were the murder victims in the trial against O.J. Simpson. O.J., who died last month, was acquitted. His defense used an ill-fitting sole glove left at the crime scene as a piece of evidence to prove to a jury that O.J. did not commit the murder. Notably, Kendrick used a single Maybach leather glove as the artwork to this morning’s drop.

3. Proverbs 6:16

In The Bible, Proverbs 6:16 states: “There are six things the Lord hates,
seven that are detestable to him:
17         haughty eyes,
        a lying tongue,
        hands that shed innocent blood,
18         a heart that devises wicked schemes,
feet that are quick to rush into evil,
19         a false witness who pours out lies
and a person who stirs up conflict in the community.“

The Scripture follows Kendrick’s harangue on “euphoria” where he listed six of things he hates about Drake—including repeating two. That section of the song prompted Drizzy to mock the lyrics by posting a clip from 10 Things I Hate About You to social media.

The Scripture also mentions “a lying tongue,” as Kendrick references lies and truth in “euphoria.” He has also portrayed Drake as one who devises wicked schemes, one who stirs conflict, and perhaps somebody who does not stand for the culture.

4. Tupac Shakur’s Birthday Is June 16

Tupac was born June 16, 1971. Kendrick has spoken highly of Tupac Shakur, and created a conversation with the slain MC on his 2015 album To Pimp A Butterfly. On “Taylor Made,” Drake used artificial intelligence to rap as Pac, and express disappointment for the Compton, California MC for not responding to Drake’s first diss, “Push Ups.” As Pac, Drake also offered tips on how to attack Drake’s character. To date, Lamar has focused on other qualities than those mentioned.

5. June 16 is associated with Euphoria

On June 16, 2019, the HBO series Euphoria made its broadcast debut. Drake is a producer for the series created by Sam Levinson. Kendrick used the title and definition on Tuesday’s diss.

Ambrosia For Heads has been actively covering the symbolism and meanings on the disses by both artists on Instagram.
